Mikey J
Michael “Mikey J” Asante AKA MKJ has been at the forefront of Urban music for a number of years now, It was his engineering work on street anthems like Sadie Ama’s ‘So Sure’ and production on Kano’s gold selling “Home Sweet Home” including “Mic Check” “9 to 5″ and “Sometimes” that really kickstarted his career and caught the industry’s attention as well as producing original tracks and remixes for Shawn Emanuel (EMI), Akala (Illastate Records), The Mitchell Brothers (The Beats), Sky (Warner) and Shystie (Polydor) to name a few. Mikey went on to play a major part in Kanos music, producing a number of records for the second album “London Town” (Including the title track), “beats and bars”, “140 Grime St” album and more.

Since then Mikey has produced music for a number of TV shows, theatre productions,films & artists including “Pied Pier: A hip hop revolution”, U.K box office hit “Street Dance 3D”, Mz Bratt’s (Atlantic Records) well received buzz single “Get Dark, Bashy plus various others across U.K and Europe.

Mikey also manages to juggle his time as Co founder and artistic director of the successful dance company, Boy Blue Entertainment, which boasts over 120 dancers, a Laurence Olivier award, residency at the infamous Barbican theatre and a number of TV and Film work including their own recent feature on Channel 4 in August 2011 to which Mikey also compose the musical score for.

2011 has seen Mikey working on new releases in the studio with Roll Deep, Encore, Bashy, Baby Blue, Rough Diamondz, Smiler, Mz Bratt and September sees Mikey and long time collaborative & friend Kano team up for the EP “Not 4 The A List” where they will be releasing one track a week as a free download, premiering with a different DJ each week, the EP will feature Wretch 32, Wiley & Maxsta amongst others.
